Among its numerous landscapes, visitors to Gran Canaria enjoy precipitous cliffs that rise up from the sea. The dragon’s tail, sitting amid ravines and facing the Atlantic Ocean, is formed by a succession of vertical walls reminiscent of a petrified dragon.

Roque Nublo Natural Monument

The emblematic Roque Nublo is a natural monument that juts out above the inland peaks of Gran Canaria. Standing more than 1,800 m above sea level, its symbolic presence is what has made it the island’s guardian and protector. Standing at its base, besides being able to touch the 80 m or so of imposing rock that comprise El Roque, you can enjoy the precipitous, volcanic landscape beyond, formed by numerous valleys and with the sea as its backdrop.
